Number:

Department:
Managers Office
Description:
Sewer and Water Rate Adjustments

We are nearing the end of a 9 year process costing approximately $62M for the design, permitting and construction of the expansion and renovation of the Brush Creek Water Pollution Control Facility. This multi-year project was funded primarily with Capital obtained through two capital improvement bond issues, one in 2015 and another one in 2017, along with a capital contribution from the Marshall Township Sanitary Authority. Soft costs, i.e. permitting and design, associated with this project were primarily funded through the Sewer Fund. As the Sewer Fund begins to prepare for the operaton of this expanded Facility and increase the rehabiliation work on its existing collection system, it is the recommendation that the Sewer and Water rates be adjusted as follows:

Sewer Meter Rate increased by .50 (fifty cents) effective for meter readings on or after August 1 and .30 (thirty cents) for meter readings on or after December 1, 2019.

Water Meter Rate decreased by .20 (20 cents) effective for meter readings on or after August 1.

The impact of these adjustments will be $1.25 per month for the average customer for their August and December bills.

Accordingly, the Board is being asked to consider approval of the following Resolution:

Motion to adopt Resolution No. ____ adjusting the Water and Sewer rates effective August 1, 2019.
